He was elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in the 1978 provincial election and in the 1981 provincial election. He represented the electoral district of Cape Breton West and then Cape Breton The Lakes as a member of the Liberal Party of Nova Scotia until he died suddenly on October 29, 1982. Osborne Faser was also a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany, Holland, England, Africa and Belgium. He was the first recipient of the District 8 Citizen of the Year. He had one sister and was married to Mary Ruth Briscoe of Pembroke, Ontario and they had 8 children: Darlene (Kenneth) Morrison, Ruthie (Robert) Rose, Ronnie Fraser, Brian Fraser, Cathy Seale, Phillip Fraser, Bonnie Fraser and Chris Fraser.

Duncan Cameron Fraser: was a Canadian lawyer, politician, judge, and the ninth Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. He married Bessie Grant Graham in 1878. In the same year, he ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the provincial assembly. Fraser was a member of the province's Legislative Council from 1887 to 1891, also serving as a minister without portfolio in the Executive Council. He was elected to the Canadian House of Commons for the riding of Guysborough in the 1891 federal election. A Liberal, he was re-elected in the 1896 and 1900 elections.

William Fraser: was a farmer, bureaucrat and politician from Manitoba, Canada. Fraser began his political experience as a Member of the Council of Assiniboia serving from 1868 until 1870. He was appointed to serve on the Temporary North-West Council on December 28, 1872. The council was the first governing body in Northwest Territories history. He served that post until 1876. Fraser was one of the only men appointed who did not have a seat in the Manitoba Legislature.

Daniel Robert Fraser: was a politician in Alberta, Canada and a municipal alderman in Edmonton. In 1892, Fraser was elected as an alderman to Edmonton's inaugural Town Council, finishing second of fourteen candidates (the top six were elected). However, he was defeated in his 1893 re-election bid, finishing last of nine candidates. He stayed out of politics until 1896, when he squeaked back into office by finishing sixth of nine candidates (three votes ahead of future mayor William Thomas Henry). He did not seek re-election in 1898, and removed himself from politics once again until 1902, when he returned to office. finishing first in the aldermanic race. Fraser sought re-election in 1904 (aldermanic terms had been increased to two years), the year of Edmonton's incorporation as a city rather than a town. The number of aldermen was increased from six to eight. In order to maintain the system of staggered two year aldermanic terms, it was decided that the four candidates receiving the most votes in the 1904 election would be elected to two year terms, while the four receiving the next highest number of votes would be elected to one year terms. Fraser finished seventh of seventeen candidates, and was therefore elected to a one year term. He was defeated in his 1905 bid for re-election, finishing eighth of ten candidates.

James Oliphant Fraser: was a businessman and political figure in Newfoundland. He represented Fortune Bay in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly from 1878 to 1885. He was a member of the Legislative Council of Newfoundland from 1864 to 1878. He served as chairman of the Board of Works from 1879 to 1882 and as surveyor general from 1882 to 1885. After he retired from politics, Fraser was Postmaster General from 1885 to 1902. He died in St. John's at the age of 77.
