Charles Rufus Fairbanks: was a lawyer, judge, entrepreneur and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Halifax township in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1826 to 1836. He served in the province's Executive Council as solicitor general. In 1834, he was named master of the rolls and judge in the vice admiralty court. He also served on the board of governors for King's College. Fairbanks died in Halifax after suffering a stroke at the age of 51.

Samuel Prescott Fairbanks: was a lawyer and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Queen's County from 1836 to 1847 in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. Fairbanks was named Queen's Counsel in 1845. He served as provincial treasurer from 1845 to 1848. He was commissioner of crown lands from 1857 to 1872. Fairbanks died at home in Dartmouth at the age of 87.
