Jean-Baptiste-Éric Dorion: was a journalist and political figure in Canada East.In 1854, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada for Drummond and Athabaska. He opposed the bill to abolish seigneurial tenure because he felt it was unfair to settlers. He was defeated in the 1857 election, but reelected in 1861 and 1863. In 1862, he founded another newspaper, Le Défricheur. He opposed Confederation, because he thought that the provinces would be dominated by the federal government.

Sir Antoine-Aimé Dorion: was a French Canadian politician and jurist.In 1858 Dorion served as Co-Premier of the Province of Canada with Clear Grit leader George Brown (Canadian politician) but the government quickly fell. From 1863 to 1864 Dorion again served as Co-Premier, this time with John Sandfield Macdonald as well as taking the position of Attorney-General but refused to participate in the Great Coalition government formed in 1864 by Brown, John A. Macdonald and George-Étienne Cartier. Following the Quebec Conference of 1864 he denounced the proposed Canadian Confederation and led the opposition in Lower Canada to the project. He was also the leader of the Parti Rouge and thought the provinces would lose their power if Confederation was put into action. He disapproved that the colonies of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island were uniting under a central government.

Éric Dorion: is an administrator and politician in the Canadian province of Quebec. He served in the National Assembly of Quebec from 2007 to 2008, representing Nicolet-Yamaska as a member of the Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ). Dorion was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec in the 2007 general election, winning a seat that was previously held by the Parti Québécois.

He is the current President of the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society of Montreal (SSJBM), a post he held also from 1989 to 1994. He is additionally the treasurer of the affiliated Mouvement national des Québécoises et des Québécois (MNQ). A polyglot, he speaks six languages, including Japanese, his wife's native language. He was elected as a member of parliament for the Bloc Québécois in the 2008 Canadian federal election, in the riding of Longueuil—Pierre-Boucher.

Noël Dorion: was a law professor, lawyer and Canadian politician. Dorion entered politics in the 1945 federal election, running as an Independent in Quebec East, but was unsuccessful. Dorion finished in second place behind Louis St. Laurent, and was the unofficial Conservative standard-bearer as the riding had no official Tory candidate. He ran as an independent along with his brother Frédéric Dorion, an incumbent MP, due to his opposition to conscription in the Conscription Crisis of 1944. In the 1958 election he was elected as the Progressive Conservative (PC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bellechasse riding as part of PC leader John Diefenbaker's landslide victory.
