He was a 6'6" 180 lb small forward and played high school basketball at Ewing High School[1] and college basketball at Rutgers University.Copeland was selected with the 2nd pick of the third round in the 1978 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets, but was cut during camp. He signed on with the New York Knicks and after two alternate seasons with the (in 1979-80 and 1981-82), and a stint playing in Spain with Zaragoza, Copeland's playing career was cut short in his second Knicks season, after dislocating several bones in his foot during practice.[2

In the latter event, she broke the world record three times in 1926 and 1927.
