Chao Kuang-piu: a Hong Kong industrial tycoon and philanthropist, often labelled Hong Kong's Magnate of Wool Industry.Chao Kuang-piu was born in 1919 or 1920 in Ningbo. His father was also a successful businessman in Shanghai. In 1950, Chao went to Hong Kong to develop his own business. His career has been mainly involved in the Hong Kong textile industry. [1]Chao was the main founder of the Dragonair, which was the first Chinese air company in Hong Kong. Chao also was the very first businessman who invested in Mainland China when the Chinese Economic Reform started in late 1970s. [2]

Chao Yuen Ren: was a Chinese American linguist and amateur composer. He made important contributions to the modern study of Chinese phonology and grammar.He left for the US in 1938, and resided there afterwards. In 1945, he served as president of the Linguistic Society of America, and a special issue of the society's journal Language was dedicated to him in 1966. He became an American citizen in 1954. In the 1950s he was among the first members of the Society for General Systems Research. From 1947 to 1960, he taught at the University of California at Berkeley, where in 1952, he became Agassiz Professor Oriental Languages.
