Alphonso Gene Ford: was an American basketball player in the Euroleague famous for his tremendous scoring ability.Ford was a high school star player for Amanda Elzy High School in Greenwood, Mississippi. Upon entering college, Ford led the entire NCAA in freshman scoring in 1989-1990 with a 29.9 point per game average. His sophomore year, he averaged 32.9 points per game, second only to Bo Kimble of Loyola Marymount University. His 3,165 career points are 4th all time behind Pete Maravich, Freeman Williams, and Lionel Simmons.

Alphonso Johnson Jr: is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Houston Rockets in the 1st round (20th overall) of the 1986 NBA Draft. A 6'7" forward from the University of Alabama, Johnson played in 7 NBA seasons from 1986 to 1993. He played for the Rockets from 1986-1992 and for the Washington Bullets during the 1992-93 season. Johnson graduated from Hayes High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Johnson's best year as a pro came during the 1990-91 season as a member of the Rockets when he appeared in 82 games and averaged 14.8 ppg. In his NBA career, Johnson played in 505 games and scored a total of 4,617 points.

Roland Alphonso: was a Jamaican tenor saxophonist.Around the mid 1950s, he joined the band of Cluett Johnson named Clue J & The Blues Blasters and backed many sessions of Coxsone Dodd in a typical Jamaican R&B style. By 1960, he was recording for many other producers such as Duke Reid, Lloyd "The Matador" Daley and King Edwards. During this period he played in many different bands, such as The Alley Cats, The City Slickers, and Aubrey Adams & The Dew Droppers. In 1963, after few months spent in Nassau, Bahamas, he took part in the creation of The Studio One Orchestra, the first session band of the freshly opened recording studio of Coxsone. This band soon adopted the name of The Skatalites.
