Adelbert Von Chamisso: was a German poet and botanist.His family were shortly afterwards permitted to return to France; he remained in Germany and continued his military career. He had little education, but sought distraction from the dull routine of the Prussian military service in assiduous study. In collaboration with Varnhagen von Ense, he founded (1803) the Berliner Musenalmanach, in which his first verses appeared. The enterprise was a failure, and, interrupted by the war, it came to an end in 1806. It brought him, however, to the notice of many of the literary celebrities of the day and established his reputation as a rising poet.

Adelbert Ames, Jr.: was an American scientist who made contributions to physics, physiology, ophthalmology, psychology, and philosophy. He pioneered the study of physiological optics at Dartmouth College, serving as a research professor, then as director of research in the Dartmouth Eye Institute. He conducted important research into aspects of binocular vision, including cyclophoria and aniseikonia. Ames is perhaps best known for constructing some illusions of visual perception: the Ames room, the Ames window, and the Ames chair. He was a leading light in the Transactionalist School of psychology, also making contributions in social psychology.

Adelbert Edward Hanna: was a physician and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He represented Lanark South from 1913 to 1917 as a Conservative and Lanark from 1917 to 1918 as a Unionist Party member. He practised medicine in Perth. Hanna was surgeon for the Canadian Pacific Railway. In 1895, he married Bessie Scott. Hanna was first elected to the House of Commons in an 1913 by-election held after the death of John Graham Haggart. He died in office in Westmount, Quebec at the age of 54.
