Shintaro Abe: was a Japanese politician from Yamaguchi Prefecture.He was the eldest son of member of Parliament Kan Abe and son-in-law of Prime Minister Nobusuke Kishi. He was married to Yoko Kishi, daughter of Prime Minister Nobusuke Kishi. His second son, Shinzo Abe, became Prime Minister of Japan on September 26, 2006. Shintaro Abe was a leading member of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).He led a major LDP faction, the conservative Seiwa Seisaku Kenkyukai, whose reins took from former Prime Minister Takeo Fukuda in July 1986, and held a variety of Cabinet and party posts. He became Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Minister of Trade and lately, in July 1986, Minister of Foreign Affairs within the Government of Yasuhiro Nakasone.

Iso Abe: was a well known Japanese Christian socialist.Abe was born in Fukuoka, and studied at Doshisha University and abroad, including at the University of Berlin, before becoming a Unitarian preacher. He taught at the University of Tokyo from 1899. In 1901 he helped to found the short-lived Japanese Social-Democratic party, which the government swiftly prohibited.During the Russo-Japanese War he advocated non-cooperation and participated in various early feminist movements. In 1906, he played an instrumental role in founding the first Japanese Socialist Party, from which he advocated a Christian Socialist viewpoint. However, the government outlawed this party too in 1907. In 1924 he became the first President of the Japanese Fabian Society. In 1928 voters elected Iso to the Japanese Diet, where he held a seat for four consecutive elections. In 1932, he became a chairman of Shakai Taishuto. He withdrew from politics in 1940.

Kan Abe: was a Japanese politician. Born into a family of brewers of soy sauce and sake who were landlords in the area of Otsu District (now part of the city of Nagato) in Yamaguchi Prefecture, he graduated from Tokyo Imperial University, the predecessor of the University of Tokyo. He was elected to the House of Representatives, and enjoyed great popularity, earning the nickname "New Shoin" or "Showa Shoin" in honor of the earlier leader from Yamaguchi, Yoshida Shoin. At the time of his death, he was preparing to run in the first postwar general election.

While still a student, he volunteered for military service during the First Sino-Japanese War.After the war, Abe graduated from the Imperial Japanese Army Academy followed by the 19th class of the Army War College. Ultranationalist General Araki Sadao was one of his classmates. Abe became commander of the 3rd Field Artillery Regiment from 1918-1921. In August 1918, his regiment was sent to Siberia during Japan's Siberian Intervention, but was never in combat.
