He was Speaker of the body from January to June 1897.

Praxède Larue: was a physician and political figure in Quebec. He represented Portneuf in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1867 to 1878 as a Conservative.He was also a founding member of the Société Canadienne d’Études Littéraires et Scientifiques. In 1885, he was named to the Legislative Council of Quebec for La Salle division and served until 1896. He died at Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures at the age of 70.

Joseph-Ernest-Henri LaRue: was a Conservative member of the Canadian House of Commons. He was born in Baie-des-Sables, Quebec and became a notary. He was elected to Parliament at the Matane riding in the 1930 general election. After serving only one term, the 17th Canadian Parliament, riding boundary changes resulted in LaRue seeking re-election at the new Matapédia—Matane where he was defeated by Arthur-Joseph Lapointe of the Liberals in the 1935 federal election. LaRue made an unsuccessful bid to return to Parliament at Matapédia—Matane under the National Government banner in the 1940 federal election.
