John Charles Alexander Cameron: was a Liberal party member of the Canadian House of Commons. He was born in Morrisburg, Ontario and became a barrister and judge. He was first elected to Parliament at the Hastings South riding in the 1935 general election and resigned on 26 March 1940 before the end of the 19th Canadian Parliament. That year, he was appointed a judge at Hastings County and frequently presided in an acting capacity at Ottawa's Exchequer Court. In 1946 he was formally appointed to the Exchequer Court.

He represented Huron South in the Canadian House of Commons from 1867 to 1875 and from 1878 to 1882 and Huron West from 1882 to 1887, 1891 to 1892 and 1896 to 1898. His re-election in 1874 was overturned in 1875 but he was elected again in 1878. He defended the interests of the salt industry in the Goderich area in parliament. He took an interest in western Canada, pushing without success for representation in parliament for the Northwest Territories and denouncing the hanging of Louis Riel.

He was the stipendiary magistrate for Sydney from 1905 to 1911. In 1911, he was appointed treasurer and solicitor for the Municipality of Cape Breton. In 1916, he was elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly for the electoral district of Cape Breton. A Nova Scotia Liberal, he was defeated in 1920. From 1921 to 1923, he was a Member of the Legislative Council of Nova Scotia and was a Minister Without Portfolio in the cabinet of George Henry Murray. He resigned from the Legislative Council in 1923 and was elected to the House of Assembly for Victoria County. From 1923 to 1925, he was the Provincial Secretary in the cabinet of Ernest Howard Armstrong. He resigned in 1930 and was defeated in the 1930 federal election when he ran as the Liberal candidate for the electoral district of Cape Breton South. He was elected in the 1935 election for the electoral district of Cape Breton North and Victoria. He served for a little less than 2 years before dying in office in 1937.
