A native of Wakayama Prefecture, he graduated from Waseda University and received a master's degree in corporate communications from Boston University. He was elected to the House of Councillors for the first time in 1998.

Louis "Lou" Sekora: is a Canadian politician. Born in Hafford, Saskatchewan, Sekora served as mayor of Coquitlam, British Columbia, from 1983 to 1997. He was first elected to city council in 1972. A series of acting mayors replaced him, eventually followed by Jon Kingsbury who served from 1998 to 2005. Sekora resigned to run in a 1998 by-election and was elected to the Canadian House of Commons as a candidate of the Liberal Party of Canada, representing the riding of Port Moody—Coquitlam. In the 2000 general election, he lost his seat to Conservative candidate James Moore In 2005 he was elected back to the Coquitlam City Council as an independent.

Józef Julian Sekowski: was a Polish-Russian orientalist, journalist, and entertainer.Józef Sekowski was born into an old family of Polish szlachta. During his study in the University of Vilno he became fascinated with all things oriental. Having mastered the Arabic, Persian, and Hebrew languages, he was assigned to the Russian mission in Constantinople, which occupation gave him ample opportunities to travel in Syria, Nubia, and Egypt. In 1821 he returned to the Russian capital, where he got the chair in oriental languages at the University of St Petersburg.
