Rauf Mehdiyev: is an Azerbaijani football goalkeeper who plays for Olimpik Baku. He is also an international footballer who has played on 5 occasions for Azerbaijan. He reached the Azerbaijan Cup final in 2003-04 playing for FK Shamkir although they lost the match to PFC Neftchi. Since then he has played for Karabakh and FK Baku, before he joined Olimpik for the 2006-07 season.

Rauf Raif Denktas: was a Turkish Cypriot politician, barrister and jurist elected in 1973 as the Vice-President of the Republic of Cyprus. He later became recognised by Turkey as the founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), claiming that position from 1983 to 2005. In 1948 Denktas served as a member of the Consultative Assembly in search of self-government for Cyprus and became a member of the Turkish Affairs Committee. He was a crown prosecutor 1949–1958. He played a key role in the 1983 Unilateral Declaration of Independence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and was elected as the President of the TRNC in 1985, 1990, 1995, and 2000.
