Ibn Khaldun: was a famous North African Arab polymath[1][2]—an astronomer, economist, historian, Islamic scholar, Islamic theologian, hafiz, jurist, lawyer, mathematician, military strategist, nutritionist, philosopher, social scientist and statesman—born in North Africa in present-day Tunisia.[3] He is considered the forerunner of several social scientific disciplines: demography,[4] cultural history,[5] historiography,[6][7] the philosophy of history,[8] sociology,[4][7][8][9][10] and modern economics.[7][11][12] He is sometimes considered to be the "father" of these disciplines, or even the social sciences in general,[13][14] for anticipating many elements of these disciplines centuries before they were founded in the West.

Ibn Battuta: was a Moroccan scholar and traveller who is known for the account of his travels and excursions called the Rihla (Voyage). His journeys lasted for a period of nearly thirty years and covered almost the entirety of the known Islamic world and beyond, extending from North Africa, West Africa, Southern Europe and Eastern Europe in the West, to the Middle East, Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and China in the East, a distance readily surpassing that of his predecessors and his near-contemporary Marco Polo.

Ibn Shuayb: was a Moroccan scholar in medicine, alchemy, botany, astronomy, mathematics, a renowned poet and chancellor of the Marinid sultan Abu al Hassan. He is the author of both prose and poetry.

Ibn Al-Arif: was a famous Sufi. His father came from Tangier and his family belonged to the Moroccan tribe of the Sanhaja. He is especially well-known as the founder of a Sufi school or tariqa, which was based on the teachings of Ibn Masarrah, and as the author of Mahasin al-Majalis (The Attractions of Mystical Sessions).

Abu Merwan ’Abdal-Malik Ibn Zuhr: was an Arab Muslim physician, pharmacist, surgeon, parasitologist, Islamic scholar, and teacher.Around 1130, he fell out of favour of with the Almoravid ruler, Ali bin Yusuf bin Tashufin, and fled from Seville. He was however, apprehended and jailed in Marrakesh. Later in 1147 when the Almohad dynasty conquered Seville, he returned and devoted himself to medical practice and teaching.[2] He died at Seville in 1161.He performed the first parenteral nutrition of humans with a silver needle, and wrote a book on it entitled The Method of Preparing Medicines and Diet.
