Asad Ali Khan: an Indian rudra veena player. Khan performs in the Indian classical music style dhrupad and is one of a few remaining rudra veena players who perform in public. He was awarded the Indian civilian honor Padma Bhushan for his music.His ancestors were royal musicians in the courts of Rampur, Uttar Pradesh,[3] and Jaipur, Rajasthan in the 18th century.[4] His great-grandfather[4] Rajab Ali Khan was head of the court musicians in Jaipur and owned a village land holding.[5] His grandfather Musharraf Khan was court musician in Alwar,[4] as was his father Sadiq Ali Khan,[6] who taught Khan the Beenkar (rudra veena player) gharana of Jaipur[2] and vocals for fifteen years.[4]
